What to expect from our post-harvest sale
After all peony orders are shipped comes the Post-Harvest Sale!
Here’s how it works:
After all orders are shipped out I do an inventory check and reload the website with varieties that are still available. Those that have joined the waitlist for specific peonies will be given an early heads up that the sale has begun. Next everyone on this email list is brought into the loop. And finally the rest of the world is invited.
Not all varieties are available for the post-harvest sale, but many will be.
When we first put inventory online in January we make conservative estimates for what is in the field. When we harvest, there may be more. These extras are then available for purchase at a slight discount.
The Post-Harvest Sale is a short one! It will last through one weekend and that’s it for the 2025 peony season. All the rest of the roots will be potted up and stored in the winter greenhouse to find new homes as potted plants come spring.
Orders are then shipped out same or next day to get them to you ASAP!
If you’ve ever seen a yellow peony, chances are it was Bartzella. It’s a very popular choice and for good reason!
Bartzella gives fragrant double yellow blossoms with red flares on very strong stems that never need staking. A feature of Itoh peonies that gardeners love! Flowers are 6-8” across.
Itoh peonies also offer a longer bloom period and generally more blooms at a younger age than herbaceous varieties. Another plus!
No wonder Bartzella is an APS Gold Medal and American Peony Society Award of Landscape Merit Winner.
Intersectional peonies generally bloom longer than other herbaceous varieties with up to two weeks of flowers. They never need staking and tend to be more disease resistant.
Bloom date rating is week 5/6.
