We’re the Kubes Family

Originally from Plymouth, Minnesota, living off of the land is not a foreign concept for our small family of five. We come from generations of farmers, growing up exploring crops, caring for livestock, and nurturing gardens of our own. Finding new roots in Spring Grove and establishing a regenerative and sustainable lifestyle of our own at Hidden Springs Peony Farm is a dream come true for us.

As we settle in and get to work, we hope to inspire not only peony gardeners, but all gardeners – flowers to vegetables, beginners to masters – by sharing our own family farm lifestyle experiences.

Creating and fostering a passion to live holistically with the land is our life mission.

We want our three girls to learn about and appreciate the importance of agriculture in our lives, well-being and the world we live in. We hope through our experience living on the farm and with the land they grow to have the same passion Bryan & I have for ag. We are excited to share those same experiences and stories with family, friends & community.

We’re not just a flower farm.

We’re thrilled to share our experience with real-life examples of how our customers can lead a holistic lifestyle. Regenerative agriculture practices that, among other benefits, support climate change initiatives by rebuilding soil organic matter and restoring degraded soil biodiversity – resulting in both carbon drawdown and improving the water cycle. We apply regenerative practices to the peony flower farm along with a diversified ecosystem of vegetables, animals, beneficial insects & water management.

Laura

Laura has grown up with a passion for the world around us.

She’s always seeking out ways to better protect and give back to the environment, understand what’s in the food that we eat and nurture our bodies to the best of our abilities, and then share that knowledge with everyone around her.

At our previous home in Plymouth, Minnesota, Laura loved spending time caring for the homestead garden in our backyard. She grew a variety of vegetables for to use fresh in our family’s meals and preserve them for future use.

If Laura looks familiar, it could be because you’ve seen her on your television screen providing weather updates as a local meteorologist, or even hosting a number of gardening segments.

What’s become a full circle moment in the purchase of Hidden Springs Peony Farm, is Laura’s 30-year history of transferring peonies alongside her mother from both her grandmother and great-grandmother’s properties to keep them in the family.

She was very young when introduced to the beautiful flower that not only spans generations, but has now become her family’s future.
Still today, hundreds of peonies well over 50 years of age continue to thrive at their relatives’ properties after moving and caring for them throughout the years.

Bryan

Growing up south of the Twin Cities, less than 2 miles from his family’s farm, Bryan spent the majority of his childhood around agriculture. His love of the land propelled him into a fulfilling career working for a global agriculture company, focusing on corn and soybean sales, as well as marketing and agronomy.

Consider us your new local farmers, and friends.

As a small family farm, all the work is done by us – Laura, Bryan and our three girls. We are not a large corporation with no name; we take pride and responsibility for delivering a product we would like to receive ourselves. We believe our customers will always take pride in growing the healthy and vibrant plants purchased from Hidden Springs Peony Farm.
