Garden Candy® Amy Jo Itoh Peony
Amy Jo is a refined yet hardworking yellow Itoh peony prized for its clarity of color, compact habit, and exceptional garden performance. Flowers are predominantly semi-double, but may range from single to nearly fully double depending on conditions.
Newly opened blooms show a delicate light pink flush that deepens slightly toward the center, then mature into a clear, bright medium yellow—remarkably free of flares, which is unusual for Itoh peonies.
Blooms are modestly sized at up to 5”, and are held neatly on upright stems just above the lush, dark green foliage. Side buds make Amy Jo a prolific bloomer from early season through late mid-season, with an overall bloom time of three weeks or more. No staking required!
The Garden Candy® series was developed by Don Smith, a retired atmospheric research scientist who decided breeding Itoh peonies was his new calling. Peonies in the series are named after all things sweet, from candies to sweet fruits to sweet grandchildren.
Week 5 bloom date rating.
Registered: Smith, D.R., 2006
#2 Division roots are shipped or available for pickup in fall and are much larger and more likely to bloom than the #1 Divisions sold elsewhere.
